7 Differences Between Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood

Updated May 25, 2022 by Thiago Khoury

Okay, I managed to write the post everyone wanted: the differences between Universal Studios in Orlando and Hollywood, and how funny how similar parks can provide such different experiences!

I recently went to Universal Studios Hollywood and I loved it, I even talked about it, so now what I want to do is compare them!

Let me just say that I decided to restrict myself to the parks themselves and disregard the fact that the Universal in Orlando it is part of a real complex with two other parks and five resorts.

Key Differences Between Universal Orlando and Hollywood Parks

I will explain each one of them, but briefly these are the main differences between Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood:

  • It sounds strange, but in Hollywood the park has two floors.
  • In orlando the attractions have more space
  • At Universal Studios Hollywood, some attractions are located inside others.
  • Universal Studios Hollywood has a movie studio tour
  • Universal Studios Hollywood has a permanent Halloween attraction
  • Universal Studios Orlando is cheaper (and emptier)
  • Not everything in one is in the other.

Remembering that you can buy Universal Hollywood and Universal Orlando tickets in advance and pay in reais, in installments and without IOF.

It sounds strange, but in Hollywood the park has two floors.

According to the plants, the Universal Orlando is reasonably larger than the Universal Hollywoodbut with the naked eye it’s hard to be that sure: in addition to being a small piece of one of California’s biggest movie studios, the Universal Studios Hollywood It’s on top of a hill, and to cross the park from one end to the other you have to go down a series of escalators with a panoramic view of the Los Angeles valley.

So remember: the Universal Studios Hollywood is divided into floors called upper lot and lower lot.

Not all roads lead to the Lower Lot, but this one does!

In Orlando, attractions have more space

The attractions that we already know about Universal Orlando seem to be smaller in Universal Hollywood because there they have less space, including the route of the queues, which is what generally gives the impression of grandeur.

With the exception of the entire region of Wizarding World of Harry Potter (which was made in the image and likeness of his older brother in Orlando), the attractions of lower lot they are really very close: Jurassic Park, Mummy and Transformers are “cute” the way they are; one next to the other.

At Universal Studios Hollywood, some attractions are located inside others.

As the Orlando park is part of a complex with two other parks, in Florida Universal has greater freedom to theme attractions, so all of them are independent and often form part of their own areas.

O Studio Tour of Los Angeles park is one of the most famous attractions, not least because at least three other attractions happen literally inside her: fast and furious, King Kong and the dead Sharkwho remembers?

Universal Studios Hollywood has a movie studio tour

Since I’m on the subject, let’s talk about Studio Tour?

There’s no way to compete with a real tour of NBCUniversal’s television and film studios – not least because getting to know movie studios is one of the main reasons people go to Los Angeles!

Led by a recorded version of Jimmy Fallon, the trains depart one after the other and pass through the sheds where programs such as The Voice and America’s Got Talentby real and in use scenographic cities, scenographic cities built for the tour and attractions such as fast and furious and King Kong.

Universal Studios Hollywood has a permanent Halloween attraction

I’m completely in love with Halloween Horror Nights, the Halloween event that takes place simultaneously in Orlando and Los Angeles parks – unfortunately it’s restricted to mid-September and the month of October, after that, only next year!

Well, unless you’re in Universal Hollywood: Since June 2016, the park has debuted a permanent attraction inspired by the series The Walking Dead, where actors scare, scream and interact when least expected, but never touch (thank God!).

Universal Studios Orlando is cheaper (and emptier)

I’m not talking about the ticket itself (which, by the way, is on average 8 dollars cheaper when compared to the current price in Orlando), but the complete experience: a day at the park in California is enough to enjoy it to the fullest. , but a full immersion in Orlando requires at least three days.

And of course, everything that takes more time also takes more money.

Ah, regarding visitation, the Universal of Los Angeles it is considerably less crowded than Orlando’s: it is the fifteenth most visited park in the world, while its sister in Orlando alternates between ninth and tenth position every year.

Not everything in one is in the other.

I have told friends that the Universal of Los Angeles it’s more cinema and Orlando’s more adrenaline. I remember seeing characters interacting with each other and interacting with the audience in the most unusual corners of the park and not necessarily on the streets waiting for selfies as happens in Orlando.

Furthermore, if you only know one of the two, remember that not everything is available in both:

  • Attractions that only exist at Universal Studios Orlando: Hogwarts Express, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, ET Adventure and Men in Black
  • Attractions that only exist at Universal Studios Hollywood: Universal’s Animal Actors, WaterWorld, Special Effects Show, Super Silly Fun Land, The Walking Dead Attraction, DreamWorks Theater Featuring Kung Fu Panda and Studio Tour.

Oh, one more: the Mummy roller coaster seems to have identical or very similar tracks in both parks, but the special effects are different – calm down, I won’t give spoilers!
