When we went to Rio, Cristo was the first tour we did. As soon as we arrived on the 17th of April, we went out for a walk on the Copacabana and when we get to Lido Squarewe saw vans leaving for Corcovado.

The Christ monument was inaugurated on August 12, 1931, is 38 meters high and weighs 1145 tons. It is located at a height of 710 meters above sea level, in the Corcovado Hill (Tijuca National Park).

HOW TO REACH CHRIST THE REDEEMER

To go to Corcovado there are four options: from trainin vanin car it’s from trail. After reaching the place by one of these four ways, it is still necessary to go up some physical and escalators to reach the feet of the Christ.

As I told you, we went to Cristo de Van, leaving the Lido Square (Copacabana). But in addition to this, there are three other boarding points: Largo do Machado, Barra da Tijuca and Panels.

Train – How to get to Christ the Redeemer

The Corcovado Train travels through the Atlantic Forest, belonging to the Tijuca National Park. The journey takes about 20 minutes.

When we went, in April 2014, the ticket purchase was made only by the site Corcovado train.

But, currently, it is possible to buy in some other points of sale. I believe that the change happened due to the numerous complaints from tourists, who arrived at the place and could not go by train, as they had not previously purchased the ticket.

It is still possible to reach the Parque Lage trail.

It works – Tijuca National Park is open every day – from 8 am to 5 pm
