List of baby trousseau in the United States

Updated November 23, 2021 by Thiago Khoury

If there’s a subject I don’t know anything about and there’s always someone who asks for advice, it’s baby trousseau.I thought about making a list of the stores I know of in Orlando, but I know that what people want to read are tips on what to buy, because everyone already knows where to buy it on the internet.

I called my friend Lívia Miraglia to put together a list with tips for baby trousseau in the United Statesbecause she understands that much more than I do: Lívia has two beautiful children and bought everything in more than one trip, through the Internet. Thanks for sharing your tips, Lívia!

Baby layette list in the United States

Hi guys, my name is Lívia and I’m a mother of two children: a girl aged 3 years and 9 months and a boy aged 1 year and 7 months. In my first pregnancy, like every first-time mother, I went overboard with shopping and saw that several of those “essential” items were not so essential, in fact, love and health are really essential, the rest are just superfluous items that make the journey of motherhood a little calmer.

Everyone has a need and, like every child, I like something too unique, so what’s essential for me may not be for you.I’m going to list some objects that have helped me a lot and that, after two personal experiences and several experiences shared with moms friends, I consider essential items when making the baby’s layette.

Before I list the products I need to give my golden tip: buy as much as possible online, this allows you to compare prices, buy exactly what you want (in the exact shade of pink or blue you imagined), avoid the frustration of not find a product and save the time you should be using to enjoy your trip.

Update: I wrote a special article on travel insurance for pregnant women.Be sure to read if you plan to travel while pregnant, choosing travel insurance for pregnant women is veryimportant!

Baby stroller

The first thing every mother wants is the stroller, isn’t it?I remember spending hours reading blogs and watching videos on the internet to decide which model would be right for me, but I can say that it paid off and was one of the best purchases I ever made:

Baby Jogger City Mini

I’ve had this stroller for almost four years and it still holds a couple more kids easily.I wanted to buy a single stroller and my main demand was practicality, so I chose the Baby Jogger City Mini.I bought the gray one with the intention of using it for all my future children, which increased the cost-benefit ratio, which is already sensational: I used it with my daughter and my son and we still take it on longer trips and hikes. It reclines and my almost four-year-old daughter sleeps peacefully in it.

You’ll probably be tempted to buy lots of trinkets to use with the stroller. With my first daughter, I used the tray and the bar, which were very useful on the trips we took during the first two years of her life. The bar was also used to place the iPhone (we bought this support here) and distract her when she didn’t want to lie down.

Comfort baby

Choosing the stroller, I started the search for the ideal comfort baby and discovered another advantage of the Baby Jogger City Mini (I’m a real fan!): it is compatible with practically all brands of baby comfort.Just buy an adapter and the car seat fits perfectly!

The car seat we chose was the Maxi-Cosi Pria 85. In fact, mine is the model before this one and it was much cheaper than time, but any Maxi-Cosi is good and durable, mine has already passed through my two children, a friend’s child and still has three more children if I want. The only downside is that if your baby is big it lasts less than a year: my daughter used it up to 1 year and 3 months, but my son only used it up to 11 months.

Mine adapter is discontinued, but there are other options, including cheaper ones, like this one.

Another product that I think is amazing, like the discovery of the century, is this exchanger here: Summer Infant Contoured Changing Pad.At the time it wasn’t found in Brazil and even though it was a mess I brought it from there in my hand, because it didn’t fit in any suitcase.I don’t regret it and everyone who came to my house thought it was great! The big difference is that it is curved on the sides, which gives more security when changing the baby, in addition to being super comfortable.I bought cute plush changing mats in different colors.

My baby monitor was a find and I love it!Lorex isn’t one of the favorite brands on moms’ blogs, but it’s been holding up for almost four years and has a good image, good audio and plays well in several places in my house. What I love most about it is that you can move the camera around the monitor, so if the baby moves, you just change the position of the camera – and it does so silently, with no danger of waking you up.

Blogger’s Note: Lorex camera works in the dark, transmits image and sound to the monitor even if you are not at home, changes position when it detects movement, when it detects sound… it’s a baby monitor, it’s a safety device, I want one too!

I’ve always found it strange to see our children even when we’re not at home, but as a mother is to live paying language and doing things we swear we wouldn’t do, I ended up buying cameras for my kids’ room. However, I think it’s a good tip and I have many friends who use it.

As for baby bottles, this is perhaps the most personal thing of all, many moms don’t even use them since able to breastfeed their children directly at the breast. They are blessed and privileged mothers, I wish all of them to be able to breastfeed their children, because breast milk is the best food.

Well, as most people need a bottle at some point, even if it’s to give breast milk, let’s talk about that first.

Well, I was never that lucky, but the little milk I managed to get was using the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump, a electric pump.I don’t advise buying it beforehand, you may never use it.I have friends who could only take them off using the Medela Harmony Manual Breast Pump, a manual model.I have friends who took it off with their own hands, and I have friends who never managed to take it off.

As I was unable to breastfeed, I became an expert in bottles. To give you an idea of how each child is unique, I’ll give you several recommendations for bottles, as it was a different story for each one.

This Philips AVENT set is sensational.I bought it for my first daughter and although she has not “accepted” AVENT bottles, I have used and still use the microwave sterilizer and the milk meter cup.I think it’s amazing and it’s a great cost-benefit, because here at home it still had an extra advantage: my second son only accepted AVENT at the beginning.See how complex it is?

My first daughter used Dr.Brown’s, especially as a newborn. It might just be a coincidence, but she didn’t really suffer from gas and cramping. The only problem with these bottles is that they are made up of several parts, which makes it a little difficult to wash and sterilize.I ended up buying it in Brazil for triple the price it cost in the United States.

Dr.Brown’s Original Wide-Neck Bottle Newborn Feeding Set

Still about baby bottles (I told you it was a complex subject!), when my daughter turned 9 months old I discovered that the overwhelming majority of baby bottles held, at most 240 ml (or 9 ounces for Americans) which for her was, and still is, a problem. That’s because the little one sucks 300 ml of milk in the morning, afternoon and night.Researching the subject, I discovered that finding a bottle that could hold 300 ml was something much more difficult than I imagined.

With a lot of effort I found these from MAM that hold 330 ml and that way I was able to satisfy my greedy baby. .An important observation: it is useless for the bottle to hold 300 ml because you will not be able to put the ten measures of milk. She must always have a little space to accommodate the milk and you can shake it.

MAM Baby Bottle

Finally, my second child is currently only breastfed from Tommee Tippee’s bottles. As they are more “chubby” they can hold up to 300ml, but he rarely takes that much.

Don’t forget to buy nipples with larger holes for the bottles you choose.Usually they come with nipple 1 (whose hole is smaller and advisable for newborns), but they must be changed as babies grow.In addition, most of these models have “X” or “Y” spouts, which are much larger and are used for smoothies, thicker juices and anti-reflux milks.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles

Another very staff are the nipples.I know there are people who don’t want their child to use it and others who do, but they don’t.In my case, I took the nipples to the maternity ward and, thank the gods of sleep, they both got it on the first night – it’s okay that they haven’t let go, but everything has its time, doesn’t it?

The my two children only accept MAM’s nipples and the best tip in life is those that glow in the dark.To this day, when one of them cries at dawn wanting a nipple, I am grateful for having bought several of these and not having to look around the room.

MAM Glow in The Dark Night Orthodontic Pacifier

Another great tip is the Razbaby Keep-It-Kleen that close when dropped, preventing them from getting dirty. My oldest daughter even has some, although she prefers MAM’s.I really wanted my son to use it too, but he is hard to fall and only sucks MAM.

The nipples usually come in two or three sizes (newborn, 0-6 months and above 6 months). So don’t forget to buy at least one of each!

{The shower cap which is actually a rubber visor. They cost a small fortune here in Brazil, but you can find them for less than 20 dollars on the internet: they really keep the temperature of drinks and food, which allows you to leave the house with the baby food (or even the food after they are grown up) fresh and thus ensure healthy food with a taste of home anywhere. They are essential items in my daily life, especially when traveling.

I tried to make a list of products that I think are practical , useful and that for my children were essential.I thought about what we still use and what I would buy again without blinking an eye, but, as I said at the beginning, each experience is unique and each child is a reality.I don’t consider myself an expert in anything and I don’t believe in absolute truths, but I wanted to share a little bit of my experience with you, as I am very grateful to all the moms who generously provided their tips when I needed them!
