Top 10 most exuberant churches in Porto, Portugal
Cathedral of Porto
The Sé do Porto Cathedral is the most important church in Porto and also one of the oldest.
Founded between the 12th and 13th centuries, the Sé Cathedral of Porto initially had a Romanesque style, as in its towers and rose window.
After several interventions, Gothic and Baroque features were incorporated into the Cathedral.
The first thing that impresses you about the Cathedral of Sé do Porto is the size, the church is gigantic. Soon after, the beauty of the Gothic facade, as well as the amazing view of Ribeira and Luís I Bridge.
The interior of the Sé do Porto Cathedral received a lot of Baroque influence, with the richly decorated altar, as well as paintings and wooden carvings on the walls.
However, the bare stone columns show that the Porto Cathedral is a medieval church.
Churches of Carmo and Carmelites

With a beautiful Baroque façade, the Igreja dos Clérigos was designed by Nicolau Nasoni in the 18th century.
The interior of the Igreja dos Clérigos is quite harmonious, with wood covered in gold leaf being balanced by the pink walls.
It is worth highlighting the beauty of the altar and the works of art, such as large paintings and sculptures. The Clérigos Church is pleasing to the eye as it is discreet for a baroque church.
Santa Clara Church
The Church of Santa Clara is located in the historic center of Porto and is a gem. Built in the 15th century, next to the old walls, the Church of Santa Clara has a simple facade.
The interior of the Church of Santa Clara is entirely carved in wood with gold leaf.. It is difficult for the eyes to see so many impressive details.
Undoubtedly, the Church of Santa Clara is one of the best examples of the application of gilded carving.
Church of San Francisco
The Church of São Francisco began to be built in the 14th century, with a clear Gothic influence perceived by the rose window on its facade.

Church of Saint Martin of Cedofeita
Church of São Martinho de Cedofeita, also known as Romanesque Church of Cedofeita, is the oldest church in Porto.
The date of foundation of the church is not certain, but it is believed that during the Swabian rule, the church was built between the 5th and 6th centuries. A gem!
Chapel of Souls
A beauty beyond measure is the Capela das Almas, close to the Bolhão Market.
Built in the 18th century, the greatest beauty of Capela das Almas came only in 1929, when its exterior was adorned with 16,000 tiles.
