On the tour in Portuguese, the guide introduces us to the history of the winery, and the nuances of the wines we will taste

How does the Concha Y Toro tour work?

After getting your tickets at the concierge, just wait for the guides to call.

But the other tours include this external part as well, ending in a tasting room where the “rest” of the tour takes place.

The park has trees from different parts of the world, centuries-old species and a lake.

Next, we go to Jardim de Varieties, which presents us with 26 different types of grapes grown in Chile.

We pass by Plaza La Vendimia, which I imagine is the heart of a winery.Afterwards, visitors head to the guard bodegas, including the famous Casillero del Diablo, the highlight of the visit.

During the walk between the vines, the guide introduces the history of the winery, information about the terroir and the points we passed.

If you have internet on your cell phone on your trip, know that every corner of the winery is a full plate to take photos and post on social media.Check the prices of the international internet chip that we used on this trip through this link from EasySim4U.

We did the traditional tour and tasted the wines at strategic points in the vineyard.

The first two tastings were in the garden, which was very pleasant, and the third was in the room near the Casillero winery.

We tried three Marques de Casa Concha labels, one Carmenere 2015, a Sauvignon Blanc 2015 and a Malbec 2015. The guide told us about the particularities of each wine, its pairings and everything else.

Visit to Concha Y Toro: the Casillero del Diablo winery

The highlight of the tour is the visit to the Casillero del Diablo guard winery. To get rid of the constant thefts of its best wines, the winery’s founder, Don Melchor, spread the rumor that the devil appeared in the bodega.

And the idea worked! Not only did it scare away thieves, but it also became a legend in world wine history, making the winery known around the world.

The interesting thing is to know that the winery was built in 1883 using a special technique call cal y canto. The name means “well closed”.This mixture of sand, lime and egg whites resisted time and the different terrains of Chile.

It is located four meters below ground level, which provides perfect conditions for storing wines.

The tour ends at the wine shopfrom Concha Toro and if you want to take a bottle home, now is the time!
