Moscow last year inaugurated the Zaryadye Parka huge space close to Red Square that is part of the revitalization plan for some areas of the city for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The area, in the heart of the city, was occupied by abandoned buildings and decaying hotels, until everything started to change with the demolition of the Hotel Rossiya, which was the biggest hotel in Europe down under in 2007.
Zaryadye Park occupies a space of 102,000 m² that brings together living areas, places for events, viewpoints, food courts, works of art and an information center. It is the first park built in Moscow in 70 years and its concept is to represent the different types of natural landscape in the country, such as tundra, steppe, forest and swamps.
But if there’s something that draws attention in the park, it’s the Flying Bridge or Sky Bridge. A suspended platform that runs through a good part of the park, advances over the wide avenues and continues to the Moskva River, providing a new experience over the city.
From there, we have an excellent view of the city: on one side the Red Square, Saint Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin, further away the Cathedral of Christ the Savior and on the other side the iconic buildings of Soviet architecture by the river.
Strolling through the park is a nice program in Moscow and I loved the Flying Bridge, I highly recommend a visit to the park.
How to get to Zaryadye Park and the Flying Bridge
Very easy, they are next to Red Square and Saint Basil’s Cathedral, look at the map below. You can’t go wrong and you can combine your Red Square tour with Zaryadye Park.
And it is worth mentioning that the park is public and to walk along the Flying Bridge we pay nothing.
